I will stand upon my watch, and set me upon the tower, and will watch to see what he will say unto me, and what I shall answer   when I am reproved. And the LORD answered me, and said, Write the vision, and make it plain upon tables, that he may run that readeth it. For the vision is yet for an appointed time, but at the end it shall speak, and not lie: though it tarry, wait for it; because it will surely come, it will not tarry.  But the just shall live by faith.    Habakkuk 2:1 – 3;4b

On Tuesday night, June 23, 2009, the vision was given to Pastor Alford to start a bible study class for those who were hungry for the word of God. We met at 1241 Alta Vista Road, World Changes Tabernacle where Prophet Prathan Powell is Pastor. Through much pray and supplication, through trials and tribulations, Pastor Alford answered the call to start a new ministry with the GOD-inspired name of Blessed Assurance Baptist Church. On July 12, 2009,Pastor Alford held the first Worship Service at 8:00 A.M. As we ended the year of 2010, we continue to be grateful to God for the great and mighty things that he has done and is doing through Pastor Alford and the Blessed Assurance Family. On July 31, 2011 we held our last 8:00 a.m. Worship Service at 1241 Alta Vista Road. We continue to thank God for Prophet Powell and World Changes Tabernacle for allowing us the rental of their sanctuary.

We also resided at 6001 Buena Vista Road, Columbus, Georgia, where we held our first Worship Service on June 5, 2011 at 8:00 A.M.  On August 7, 2011 (the first Sunday) we had our first Evening Worship Service at 6:00 P.M. with the baptism of two Candidates and Communion (the Lord’s Supper).  Our very own Pastor Alford brought the message of “Assurance of the Believer”. We had a wonderful night and God’s Glory was truly in the house. So, today, as we continue to walk by faith and as God orders the steps of our Shepherd, we know that this is the LORD’S doing and it is still marvelous in our eyes.

Here we are, God is good and His mercy endures forever. You were faithful members, you believed in the God in me to be your Shepherd; you followed me as I followed God. You went forward with me not looking back but staying focused. I know that I didn’t always do what you wanted me to do or say what you wanted me to say, but we stayed together. We worked together knowing that we are many members but one body not always agreeing but allowing the Holy Spirit to lead us through. We grew to love and accept each other as who we are, sons and daughters of the most high God. So, as we move into the year of grace, let us look back over our past four years from 1241 Alta Vista Drive to 6001 Buena Vista Road to our present location 5603 Luna Drive. God is good and His mercy endures forever. Let us not become arrogant children, not thinking more highly of ourselves than we ought too, but let us continue to keep the faith always remembering that without faith, it is impossible to please God, knowing and having the blessed assurance that he that cometh to God must believe that He is and that He is a rewarder of them that diligently seek Him.
